Sony PSP Go
The PSP Go is Sony’s new take on the popular PSP handheld console. Over the years, Sony have modified the PSP, which has resulted in the smaller and lighter PSP3000 which will continue being sold. But the PSP Go takes us into a new direction entirely.
The unit is much smaller than before, in height, depth and width, and much lighter. Instead of the controls being on the edges of the screen, they are now on a sliding panel that slides from beneath the screen, much like some mobile phones. The big change, however, is the removal of the UMD drive.
UMDs are the small optical disks that PSP games and movies have been distributed on. The PSP Go, however, replaces the reliance on UMDs to a greatly expanded internal memory (16GB instead of 64MB) and an online service that will allow games to be bought and downloaded directly to your PSP Go. Of course, if you already have a library of UMD based games, then you might have a problem, but Sony say that they will have a process in place which will allow you to transfer your existing games to your new PSP Go.
The PSP Go will be available from 1st October 2009, with a number of stores already taking pre-orders.

PSP Go (White) stock and prices
The white PSP Go is a bit further away, with another year to wait. Of course, this may change once the black version has launched, but don’t hold your breath! Of course, there’s nothign to stop you getting an order in nice and early in preparation!
