Sony PSP 3000
The PSP 3000 is the current ‘full size’ PSP, and the end of a line of handhelds that dates back to 2004. This latest iteration has the size and weight of the previous version, but with a better screen and slight changes in button placements. The PSP 3000 has a UMD drive, unlike the soon to be available PSP Go, so is also compatible with the large back-catalogue of UMD based games
The screen is really the big improvement this time; it is much brighter, and has 5 times the contrast ratio, making games jump out of the screen at you, and losing a lot of the ghosting that was evident on the previous PSP 2000 model.
With the soon to launch PSP Go, the PSP3000 may be considered the less desirable model, but with the UMD drive, and a cheaper price, still with the ability to run all the games the Go will, the PSP 3000 is still an attractive deal.
