LATEST NEWS: Due to hit the UK and Europe on March 5th
The new, bigger Nintendo DS XL (called the LL In Japan) is the new version of the DSi, and is going to be hitting the UK at the start of 2010. So what can you expect?
Well first of all, it’s physically bigger. The dotted line on the photo shows the size of the existing screens compared to the new XL version. This means that the whole casing is bigger as well. The stylus is also more substantial, taking the form of a pen rather than a plastic stick.
Nintendo’s reason for this is to target an older demographic, who might not have the eyesight to see the smaller screens as well as youngsters can.
And let’s face it, I’ve been gaming since the age of Space Invaders and Asteroids, meaning that I’m in my early 40s. There were also many people in their 20s and 20s back then who are still gaming who will now need the larger screens!
We are expecting the console to be available in the same colours as they are in Japan, so “Wine Red”, “Dark Brown” and “Natural White”. If you order from Japan, then the current price is around £160-170 (but don’t forget shipping, VAT and import duty!)
