When is a bundle not a bundle?

We made a decision here at Product Locator Towers to differentiate between regular, run-of-the-mill console bundles, and those special edition bundles that Microsoft and Sony are so enamoured with.  These new special editions, such as the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Super Elite Console, the Xbox 360 Forza Motorsport 3 Super Elite Bundle and the expected (but not officially announced) Playstation 3 Slim Uncharted 2 bundle and the Playstation 3 Slim FIFA 2010 bundle all offer something over and above the regular console with a game or two included.

In the case of these bundles, aimed at the Christmas season, they all come with a console, and a game, like any other bundle, but they also come with additional extras that are not available elsewhere. All four of these bundles come with new 250GB hard drives that both Microsoft and Sony have made for their consoles – but these won’t be available anywhere else. Also, you will get some snazzy case art for at least some of these bundles which stand them apart from other bundles.

Finally, we simply want people to be able to find them! If they are simply tagged onto the end of what are (and will continue to be) fairly large lists of bundles, then our visitors (you!) will miss them, and potentially miss out on a deal.

Hopefully we made the right call, but if you don’t see the benefit to splitting these out onto their own locator pages, please let us know.

We’ve soft launched!

Rather than some big fanfare, we’ve decided to soft launch the site, to make sure that there are no problems. We’ll be updating the product data daily at first, but as new products are launched, and stock becomes scarce in the run up to Christmas, we will publish our updates far more regularly.

So, welcome to Product Locator, and please let us know of any problems you find!

Welcome to Product Locator

We have worked on locator technology for a number of years now, and feel that we have managed to create a solution that is scalable and suitable for adding more products, more regularly. Gone are the days of a single product monolithic site: welcome to Product Locator 2010. We are using the latest gathering techniques, which can determine, for a growing number of online stores, whether a product is in stock or not, and how much it is currently. The backend systems allow us to add new products quickly, and get them up onto the site quicker than ever before.

Of course, any new technology will likely have teething problems, and although we have tried to catch as much as possible before opening our doors, there will always be situations that we haven’t catered for. If this happens – please let us know!  We can only make this system work the best it can with your help!
